Overview
The Audi TT driving experience is exhilarating, thanks to a progressive steering system that offers a sharp and direct feel, smart acceleration and adaptive dampers which reduce body lean. It’s also an all-rounder, capable of comfortable long-distance journeys and quick trips around town. What other keen drivers’ cars can you say that about? Not many.
What you need to know about the Audi TT
The TT more than delivers, with the latest generation truly placing the focus on driver fun. It weighs less than before and Audi have given it a new and adaptive chassis, as well as more power.
With the TT, you’re in control. You can choose from a selection of drive modes. If you feel like opening up on the roads, select dynamic to unleash all the power. Dial things down in efficiency mode to try and achieve the claimed 47.8mpg – we only reached low 40s.
Both the petrol and diesel offerings have impressive contenders. We’re huge fans of the 2.0-litre TFSI petrol with Audi’s quattro four-wheel-drive system, but the TDI Ultra diesel could be better-suited to someone doing more miles.
What’s more, Audi is known for top-notch materials and innovative tech. The TT was the first car to have Audi’s now-renowned virtual cockpit. Focusing on usability, it’s a fully-digital display positioned in front of the driver.
What to watch out for
There are few worries with the TT, as it’s one of the most well-reviewed Audi models, thanks to a combination of excellent comfort and exciting driving dynamics. It helps that the TT is also competitively priced and even reasonably spacious. For Top Gear, it’s the best real world sports car on sale.

The allure of the Audi badge, and the seemingly unbeatable interior standards, is hard to ignore. The TT has steadily evolved into a modern performance machine, which is sure to thrill – even if the ride is still slightly too firm.
