The 944 is rapidly becoming a modern classic with the S2 Cabriolet being particularly sought after. As of 2017, there are only 48 of the most recent 1992 S2 Cabrios left on the road in the UK. This particular car was factory fitted with all mod-cons of the day such as electric seats, electric convertible roof, ABS, electric windows, Blaupunkt stereo speakers and many other features. Recently, a Bluetooth stereo and handsfree has been fitted, with extensive work done to the electrics to ensure reliable function. The battery has just been replaced with a brand-new heavy-duty Varta. All 4 tyres have plenty of tread including the space-saver tyre in the boot space (with original Porsche tool kit and electric air compressor!). The timing belt was replaced quite recently and it was last serviced in Jun 16. About the 944 - Announced in 1981, the 944 was the third of Porsche's new family of front-engined sports cars. A close relative of the 924 original, the 944 was constructed along similar lines and from a distance was hard to tell apart from its progenitor. Beneath the bodywork (50mm wider than the 924's) was a 2.5-litre, 163bhp overhead-camshaft 'four' fitted with twin balancer shafts to counter the vibration often encountered in such units. The rear transaxle - a five-speed affair this time - was retained, while the 924-type running gear was suitably up-rated to cope with the 944's superior performance. Subsequent developments included a Turbo, 16-valve 944S, 3.0-litre S2 models and a cabriolet, while the base model's 8-valve engine grew to 2.7-litres. recorded as cat c, Porsche claimed a maximum power output of 211bhp for the S2 and a top speed of around 150mph.

This is a very rare opportunity for someone to own a stunning and iconic piece of Automotive history. It has been subject to a full 'nut and bolt' restoration while also being stripped back to bare metal to fully restore the bodywork. In fact the whole vehicle was returned to original factory condition. It is in superb condition and is a credit to the restorer and previous owner. It also comes with a Porsche Certificate of Authenticity. In 1956, Porsche upgraded it's 356 model, to a 356 A (T1), which further refined into a 356 A (T2) model for 1958 to 1959. Each evolution brought with it new innovation and a race winning pedigree. The Porsche 356 was not the most powerful car of it's time but handled like none of it's competitors on the race track or on the open road.Following an extensive 'nut and bolt' restoration, chassis #102310 is complete. The car carries it's original features, all original panels, with the exception of the floors and front nose panel which were replaced as part of the restoration. The car is now in 'concours' condition as it was when it was first built.Original stampings can be found in all of the expected places; VIN plate, engine lid hinges, door jams and through the engine grille. The wheels are original and date stamped 1957, the interior comprises the original seats, which have been re-trimmed in a luxury caramel leather and completed with original biscuit coloured German square weave carpets. Sadly this is not a fully matching numbers car as the original engine and transmission were removed at some point. However, the engine is an original 1958 correct period 616/1 engine from the same production run with the same specification - as per the Porsche certificate of Authenticity. The transmission was uprated to a 1958 Porsche type 716 transmiss
