Whitley Bay Classic Car Show: 21st September 2014
Hordes of classic car owners look set to motor on down to an inaugural event come Sunday 21st September.
The Inaugural Whitley Bay Classic Car Show, which will take place along The Links in Whitley Bay, will welcome over 150 classics to its show ground, with enthusiasts seemingly keen to participate in the north east’s newest classic car show.
Organisers are encouraging more classicists to sign up alongside them. Should the day be a success, it is hoped that the show will become an annual fixture.
The Triumph Sports Six Club
The Inaugural Whitley Bay Classic Car Show owes its existence to the passion, dedication and hard work of the Triumph Sports Six Club, a group of local classic car enthusiasts. The club regularly holds informal meetings, and organises runs around the north east, displays their cars at local shows, attends other areas’ weekends and organises club camping trips. Warm-hearted and car-obsessed, they always welcome new members.
This generosity of spirit and eagerness to share their magnificent motors with the public has seen them team up with the North Tyneside Council to create the event, which they hope will become an annual attraction for Whitley Bay.
Enthusiasts from across the north east will gather on The Links on Whitley Bay on Sunday, September 21st, with cars ranging from pre-1950s classics to more recent vehicles. The Whitley Bay event will showcase over 150 exquisite classic cars, motors that are guaranteed to make any enthusiast drool. With models including an exceptionally well-preserved 1933 Austin, a 1946 Morris, a 1959 Sunbeam, and many, many more from different places and time periods, it promises to be a thrilling day out.

A special display of vintage buses from the 1940s through to the 1970s will also be on show, for a taste of something a little different, and refreshments and live music will be on tap to create fun and entertainment for the whole family. With great sea views and a wealth of information available on each amazing vehicle, classicists are sure to find themselves occupied from start to finish.
Councillor Eddie Darke, cabinet member for leisure, culture and tourism, commented: “There’s a lot of excitement for this new event and I hope people from across the region come along to meet the car owners and enjoy a day at the coast.”
Admission is free, and the whole family is welcome.
The Inaugural Whitley Bay Classic Car Show promises to thrill, so make sure that you’re there to enjoy it.
