Top 10 Sports Cars Available To Buy Today

With the summer just around the corner, we only can hope that the sun will be shining

The weather will be hot and the nights are clear and perfect. As a driver these conditions are ideal as you will definitely want to get into your sports car and drive around the UK or around Europe.

We have thought long and hard about the sports cars we like here at Exchange and Mart/s1cars and then find a way to create a top 10 list of sports cars we can all agree on. We’ve taken a lot of criteria into consideration such as cars that will make you stand out from the crowd, cars that are comfortable on long journeys and cars that will help you let your hair down on any occasion. Below is our top 10 list of sports cars we recommend to you.

1) Mazda MX-5

The Mazda MX-5 is undoubtedly the best sports car you can buy as an everyday, no thrills sports car. The car is light, has very sharp steering and accelerates rather well giving you lots of fun wherever you go, day or night. This car is definitely a car everyone.

2) Alfa Romeo 4C

The 4C is truly one of the best cars Alfa Romeo have made in a long time. The car, available in either coupe or spider variants, comes with an aluminium 4 cylinder turbo engine which produces 240bhp and a top speed in excess of 160mph. The car handles perfectly with great grip around corners and brakes superbly thanks to its Brembo brakes.

3) Volkswagen Golf GTI

The Golf GTI is one of the most iconic cars around the world since its launch back in the 1975 and no matter which version you want (whether it’s a MK1 or a MK7) you are getting the best sports car Volkswagen build. The new MK7 Golf GTI comes with Stop/Start tech which you now see in many cars but also reaches a top speed of 152mph. The new GTI also comes with a lot of safety features which will protect you in many different circumstances. Either way, you are buying a piece of evolutional history.

4) Lamborghini Huracán

This new baby Lambo replaced the Gallardo following the numerous farewell limited edition production runs. The Huracán comes with 602bhp, 0-62 in 2.5 seconds with a max speed in excess of 201mph! Should you decide to get a Huracán, you have a choice of whether to get it in 2 or 4 wheel drives and a choice of specs which will affect the top speed and power you get from the car. If you still need persuading then take a look at the Italian police force as they own a Huracán.

5) Mercedes-AMG GT R

The Mercedes-AMG GT R is known as being the safety car in F1 and clocking the 8th fastest time at the infamous Nürburgring in 7:10.92. The Mercedes-AMG GT R boasts a powerful 4.0-litre twin turbo V8 petrol engine that produces at 585 bhp, 0-62 in 3.6 seconds and hitting the limit at 198mph – just enough to make you howl in excitement each time you press the throttle.

6) Jaguar F-Type

The Jaguar F-Type growls when it drives past you but what if you were to own one? Then the Jaguar F-Type yells and bellows each time you press the throttle. The F-Type, should you go for the top of the range 5.0-litre V8 engine, will go from 0-62mph in 3.5 secs and goes on to reach 200mph. The only downside we have from the car is the lack of space in the boot should you go for the convertible version or/and get a space saver spare wheel.

7) Nissan GT-R

Back in 2008, the Nissan GT-R was used in a race in Japan against the might of the Japanese transport network, including the Bullet Train – and won. That is no mean feat, underneath the body we see an engine hand built by one of four “Master Craftsman”, tyres inflated with nitrogen, and a centre console built by the Polyphony Digital team – the same company which creates the Gran Turismo gaming series – to give you that driving sensation should you want to drive this at the limit all the time. For those who still own a Nissan Skyline, maybe it is time to swap an iconic sports car for another iconic sports car.

8) BMW M3

If you want a car that can be used in everyday life, comes with a spacious boot, able to cruise in comfort on the motorway but transform into a savage performance sports car that undeniably will make you laugh in delight; then the BMW M3 is the car for you! With it’s twin-turbo 3.0-litre I6 engine developed by BMW’s M Power means you will get from 0-62mph in 4.1 secs and hit the restricted top speed of 155mph. What’s more is that the M3 has been around since 1985 so if you buy this car you are buying into a company who builds one of the best sports cars in history, the M3.

9) Porsche 911 Carrera Cabriolet

The Porsche 911 is a motoring icon – packing pure mechanical grip, mid-engine pedigree and plenty of history – a car of choice for any motoring enthusiast. What you then need to choose is which of the 21 different varieties of the 911 do you want to buy, and we recommend the 911 Carrera Cabriolet. We feel that the Carrera Cabriolet gives you enough power, practicality and style when it comes to everyday life and for getting away from the city so you can unleash that 6-cylinder 370bhp engine which goes from 0-62mph in 4.6 secs and hitting the max at 181mph. If you need more persuading, the roof goes up/down in 13 seconds.

10) Aston Martin Vanquish

In the Bond movie “Die Another Day”, Q tells James that “Aston Martin calls it the Vanquish, we call it the Vanish” – well said Q! Take the Vanquish on any road with lots of twists and turns, hairpins (or even a carousel if you take this to the Nürburgring) it will thank you so much by kicking the tail end where you will unleash that 568bhp V12 engine in order to hurl it down the next straight. Take this car into the city, people will look at you in awe and by driving the Vanquish, you are driving one of the coolest cars ever made.

There you have it, our top 10 sports cars and we hope you will consider our list into consideration when buying your next sports car. However, if the cars in our top 10 are not to your taste, don’t worry, there are plenty of cars, new and used, we have on sale today from Exchange and Mart and s1cars.
