Whether defined as a supercar or hypercar, there’s one common theme shared by these five beauties: they’re the stuff of daydreams.
Powered to infinity and beyond by cutting-edge technology and drivetrains, their gadget-laden interiors are wrapped in outlandish bodies that double as works of art.
So why not take your car buying options to new heights by feasting your eyes on five of the best cars for 2017?
1. Bugatti Chiron
When it comes to dream cars you can’t get any dreamier than the 2017 Bugatti Chiron. This replacement for the Veyron takes six months to build and costs a whopping £1.9 million. For that you get 1,500 Horsepower from a quad-turbo 8.0-litre W16 engine and a top speed ‘limited’ to 260mph. Bag one and you join a very exclusive club: of the 500 to be built, 200 have already been sold and only 15 in the UK.
2. McLaren P1 LM
This is a super-sexy road-legal version of the track-focussed 986bhp P1 GTR. Lighter and faster, the prototype was unveiled at the Goodwood Festival of Speed last year. Only five production models will be made by specialist conversion company Lanzante. Deliveries have already begun but if you have, let’s say, £3 million lying around you might still get your driving gloves on one.
3. Aston Martin Valkyrie
What do you get when you cross Aston Martin styling with Red Bull F1 racing know-how? Answer: the phenomenal Valkyrie hypercar. Originally codenamed the AM-RB 001, its new name is Norse “chooser of the slain”! It will be powered by a Cosworth-built 6.5-litre naturally aspirated V12 paired to a KERS boost system. The bad news? It will have to stay in our dreams: all 150 road-going models have been sold for £2million each.
4. Techrules Ren
Unveiled at the 2017 Geneva Motor Show, the Ren is the first production vehicle from the China-based company Techrules and features Turbine-Recharging Electric Vehicle (TREV) technology. Style more like a fighter jet than a 1,287hp car, its cockpit and canopy design is the work of designers Fabrizio and Giorgetto Giugiaro. With front laser headlights and ‘star-burst’ reversing LEDs, what’s not to like?
5. Arrinera Hussarya GT
With 641bhp from a 6.2-litre V8, the Hussarya GT is the first car from Poland to have entered the GT racing class. But this beauty isn’t just for motorsport fans. Arrinera is in the process of developing a road-going version which will be presented at the end of this year. Watch this space . . . and don’t blink!
